Sacraments

Sacraments

The history of salvation is the history of the establishment of the relationship between God and humanity. In fact, it is the history of God coming and seeking out humanity for this relationship. To accomplish this purpose in an everlasting way, Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, becomes human. Jesus is truly the everlasting covenant.

Through the words and deeds of Jesus, which are the origins of the sacraments, God bounds closely the human race. Through these signs and symbols humanity is one with Christ, and through these sacraments the grace of the loving God flows into the world.

Sacraments are external signs - earthly signs - but they become the living mystery of God’s presence in the world.
